About Us

A calm, clear space for people who want to understand their taxes—not dread them.

About Filing Made Friendly

I’ve been doing my own taxes for years, even after starting my own freelance business. But as my business grew, I decided it was time to hire a CPA to do my taxes, hoping to hand it all off to a professional—and maybe find a few extra deductions. I got a great referral, and I sent him my previous year’s tax returns. After looking everything over, he surprised me by saying, “This is one of the cleanest returns I’ve seen. You’ve taken all the deductions I would have recommended. You don’t need me. Save your money and file your taxes yourself.”

I love working with numbers, and documents, and solving puzzles—I’m really a big nerd at heart. And eventually I may get the training and license to prepare tax returns myself. But in the meantime, I realized there was something I could do to provide low-cost, ethical help to those who need a little support, some structure, and someone to walk them through the confusing parts without judgment. Enter “Filing Made Friendly.”

What I Do — And Don’t Do

I’m not a tax preparer, CPA, or accountant. I don’t file taxes or give legal tax advice. What I do offer is guidance, clarity, and a calm place to get organized and feel empowered—especially if you’re:

  • Self-employed or freelancing for the first time
  • Trying to figure out what you’re eligible to claim
  • Anxious, burned out, or neurodivergent
  • Someone who’s been overcharged—or overwhelmed—by traditional tax prep

Whether you need help understanding what a Schedule C is, want a checklist to stay on track, or just want to talk through what you’re looking at before you hit “submit,” I’m here to help you move forward with confidence. Want to know the difference between what I do, a tax preparer, and a CPA? Check out this quick explainer.

Why I Created This Space

Tax systems weren’t designed with real people in mind—especially not folks with ADHD, anxiety, or trauma around money. Moreover, some tax preparation agencies take advantage of people who may not have the education or the confidence to file their own taxes, by charging exorbitant fees. My goal is to take away the pressure and replace it with something better: education, flexibility, and support.

Here, you’ll find low-pressure one-on-one coaching, downloadable guides and checklists, and approachable explanations that meet you where you are.

If you’ve ever thought “I should be able to do this myself—but I just can’t figure it out,” you’re exactly who I made this for.

Let’s take the stress out of taxes—together.
